Volunteer Opportunities
- Plant Show Photographers. We've generated international interest in the truss pictures from our last two shows posted on our website. However we desperately need dedicated photographers to obtain pictures of every variety in the show. Realistically we probably need two teams of two people to get quality pictures of everything in the show. One person in the team would be the photographer and one would be the note taker.
-
Website development. There are many opportunities for
developing our website. Experience is not necessary.
Some of the opportunities include:
- Artwork. We could use a reworked logo and banner as well as anything else that might strike your fancy. A straightforward project is cleaning up the existing logo so that it looks good at a larger size.
- We have a significant archive of articles written for our newsletter. It would be nice to have these indexed to make them more accessible. This is like a word processing project.
- Organizing photographs. Rhodos make for beautiful pictures and we already have a lot of them and some or our members have many more. We could use a database of pictures to make them easier to peruse.
- Extending the previous item we could develop a database of rhodos, particularly emphasizing those growing in the region. This could involve setting up an interface for members to upload pictures, data, growing tips and anecdotes about the rhodos growing in their gardens. A significant amount of work has already been done in this direction. This is a more technical project.
- General website design. If you would like to work on improving the look or function of the website you're welcome to give it a try.
- Maybe we need an online discussion forum or a blog for members to sound off.
- Use your imagination. This is a volunteer effort so anything you're motivated to do is worth a try.
- Volunteer to help with our annual show and plant sale.
- Help with refreshments at our monthly meetings.
